Brookland Academy Child Development Center Taimeka Walker Williams Scholarship
July 3, 1974 – August 11, 2006
Taimeka Walker Williams was a spirited, gifted, and kind young woman that gave her all to the education of young children. She had a contagious smile and laugh like no other. When she was with us she always wanted to know how she could lend a helping hand. Brookland Academy CDC was honored to have her be a part of the strategic plans in developing our program. In August of 2005 Taimeka began her role as the three year old lead teacher. The parents, students, and staff naturally gravitated to her warm spirit.
On August 11, 2006, Taimeka came to work and did what she loved best and that was to teach her three year old students. After a full day of showing us how to endure and to always do your best she would leave us to only never return. While traveling home to Johnston, SC, Taimeka was in a single car accident that ended her life.
The passing of Taimeka was a tremendous shock to our school and church community. Collectively we all wanted to do something to pay homage to the life and legacy of such an outstanding person. We all knew how much Taimeka loved Brookland but we knew that her true love was to work with children. By the fall of 2006, Brookland Academy CDC Board of Advisors approved the Taimeka Walker Williams Scholarship. The scholarship would be awarded to currently enrolled families experiencing economic hardship. Through monetary donations Brookland Academy has awarded more than ten families with the scholarship.
In an effort to continue providing scholarships we ask that you consider making a donation to the Taimeka Walker Williams Scholarship. All donations will be used to help families experiencing hardship continue their enrollment in our program. Every child in every community at every income level deserves a quality education.
Brookland Academy CDC is a 501 (c) 3 organization and donations are tax deductible.
